Vampires

There are two kinds of vampires; those who were conceived by two vampires and those who were earlier humans and got bitten by a vampire. The difference between those two is that the first type, known as a pure vampire is usually stronger and it ages for twenty five years, then the process stops and it keeps the young look forever. The second one known as a trans, is slightly weaker, but he never ages.

Vampires are nocturnal creatures, they cannot endure daylight (UV light to be precise). They live in clans or nests which are usually old houses in remote places outside the city or in basements or abandoned buildings in cities.

Vampires have to drink blood to survive. They must supplement certain elements that are in blood itself. They also have several powers:

-          They are stronger and faster than humans

-          They hardly ever sleep, and if they do it takes weeks or even years.

-          They can climb walls

-          Some of them can heal instantly

Vampires are vulnerable to several things: they have strong reaction to garlic, as it burns their skin, but only a large amount of that vegetable can kill them.  Dead man’s blood can both injure and kill vampires. If it gets to some major artery or vein the poison will kill the victim instantly. Silver does the same work. The most deadly however is Ultra Violet light that burns their cells leaving only ash.

List of vampires from the book.

Reiz- one of the most powerful vampires in the world. He is the holder of the first part of the Seal of Solomon.

Dhampirs

Dhampirs are similar to vampires. They were born by having one of their parents as a vampire. Some of them choose to work with the vampires, other against. They have some features of the vampires but most of them are invulnerable to UV light or dead man’s blood. To kill them one should use explosives, as no one is ever sure whether silver, garlic or dead man’s blood can kill them.

Dhampirs mentioned in ASATs:

            Surya

Zombies

Zombies, undead or walking corpses (dead)  are corpses that have been brought back to life by powerful demon: pure demon, sorcerer or a witch. Their brain is mostly inactive and their body is controlled by the cerebellum and some parts of the brain. The walking dead is not aware of its previous life and it seeks to satisfy its basic need- food. It will feed on anything that lives, but it prefers human meet. It is believed that when a zombie kills someone, they turn into zombie. It is partly true only when it is working by an additional spell. If the secondary spell is not cast, the zombie’s victim will not come back into live.

To kill a zombie one must either decapitate them or shot them directly into forehead which will deactivate their control centre.

In ASAT we can meet zombies in Part 2 and 4 and the whole book 2 and 3

Ghosts and spirits

Ghosts can be divided into three categories: specters, angry ghosts or lost souls.

Specters- these are old and powerful demon-like ghosts. They are evil in nature and they spread evil everywhere they go. They have some powers like: moving objects, teleporting, superhuman strength and being invisible.

Angry spirits- this type of ghost is the most common. They are lost souls who got confused, fed up and tired of their existence and do harm to everyone. Some of them are bound to places they died in or where their bodies are, like cemeteries or houses, others can move freely.

Lost souls- another type of ghosts. These spirits are fresh. It means they are souls that have died recently and they are rather harmless.

Ghosts don’t like iron and salt. If they come in contact with either of them, they lose most of their energy and to come back again they have to wait till they recharge. ASATs use special combination of salt and iron that sticks to spiritual body and as a result the spirits lost their all energy and cease to exist. Another way of killing a ghost is burning their remains.

In ASAT you can meet ghosts in Part 3 and 4 and the Book 2

Ghouls

Ghouls are creatures that are met all over the world. They used to be humans but were turned by a spell cast only by a witch. They are humanlike, small and thin. They usually walk on all limbs. Their heads are bald with longer or no ears and they have very thick, grey or brown skin. Ghouls live where dead bodies are, and they feed on them. They are hard to kill, as their bodies quickly heal. They are vulnerable to decapitation and fire only.

Witches

Women who were taught or learnt sorcery and were banished from society. They do not age, but most of them mastered the power of immortality when they were old. They usually live in abandoned huts in woods or mountains. Scarcely do they live with other witches. They are usually evil in nature and people hunt them because they use various human parts in their mixtures. They are vulnerable to any weapon, provided they haven’t put a protective spell on them. However, fire is the deadliest weapon of all.

In ASAT we can meet one witch in Part 2

Werewolves

There are two kinds of werewolves:

-          Pure werewolves- those who were conceived by two werewolves. They are stronger, immortal and can transform whenever they like.

-          Trans- these are humans that after drinking some mixture transformed into werewolves. They are usually weaker, and have problems with transformation.

Werewolves live in deserter places, forests, hills, mountains. They hardly ever approach humans. They are rather used by witched as bodyguards.

To kill werewolves one can use regular cold steel or silver. Regular bullets do not damage their bodies.

In ASAT we can meet warewolves in Part 2

Review by Antoine21

I have been following Michael Keyth and ASAT for a long time now, and I must admit, his work is brilliant. I’m not a native English speaking person, and as I heard, neither is the author, but even though he managed to create a great piece of work. Whenever I read an English book written by a native speaker I had to use the dictionary every few sentences. Authors simply choose words that nobody uses, and here I didn’t have much problems with understanding what was going on. 5/5 score. You must read it or you will miss quite a great piece of work. P.S. Tokutei is my favorite character.
